La seconda parte è la parte audio di uno spettacolo nuovo che abbiamo realizzato con @tommasorolando e #facundomoreno di @dromosofista_official, che giocano con musica, teatro, installazioni e tantissime gocce d'acqua.

Avere una casa, uno studio, un laboratorio, una sala d'attesa, uno studio di registrazione, un atelier, un asilo, una cucina, un salotto, un luogo libero di qualsiasi tipo... ora è reale per noi e per chiunque voglia fare un salto o passare, la nostra porta è aperta. Un tempo era un negozio Olivetti, ora lo chiamiamo #fuolivetti.

Abbiamo guidato per 10 ore dalla Puglia a Modena e abbiamo suonato il concerto subito dopo aver scaricato il furgone. Finito il set, siamo andati direttamente all'aeroporto di Malpensa perché Ayham aveva un volo per la Palestina. Il più difficile degli addii.
Felice di aver registrato questo assaggio di musica "stanca ma ancora viva"!

Questo mixtape è un tributo a una tradizione musicale unica della mia città natale, Genova, dove è nato il Trallallero.

Nella prima parte, ascolterete registrazioni originali realizzate da #alanlomax negli anni '50 (potrete davvero respirare l'atmosfera delle vecchie taverne).

Nella seconda parte, troverete alcuni brani di @orchestrabailam (suono il contrabbasso con loro dal 2006). Hanno realizzato due dischi incredibili che fondono magistralmente il canto Trallallero con la musica acustica mediterranea! Quindi, aspettatevi qualcosa di molto diverso dal mio solito lavoro improvvisato e sperimentale.

Il Trallallero è un tipo di musica popolare polifonica originaria della Liguria, a Genova, nel nord Italia. Tradizionalmente eseguito da uomini, anche se negli ultimi tempi si sono affermate anche interpreti femminili, presenta caratteristici vocaboli monosillabici (vocalizzazioni non lessicali) come "tra-la-le-ro", che sono prominenti nel repertorio dei gruppi o "Squadre". Si tratta tipicamente di sezioni di canzoni senza parole in cui la melodia viene cantata utilizzando sillabe senza senso.

Negli anni '50, l'etnomusicologo americano Alan Lomax e Diego Carpitella registrarono il Trallallero. Lomax in seguito lo elogiò, definendolo il lavoro più significativo della sua lunga e illustre carriera.

I gruppi di Trallallero sono composti da parti di tenore, baritono e basso, accompagnati da un contralto e da un cantante che imita la chitarra. Da notare che l'imitazione degli stili strumentali sostituisce la tradizionale polifonia vocale, caratteristica distintiva di questo genere. Una formazione tipica comprende nove cantanti: uno per chitarra, tenore, contralto, baritono e cinque bassi, anche se alcuni gruppi possono essere significativamente più numerosi.

This mixtape is a tribute to a unique musical tradition from my hometown, Genoa, where Trallallero was born.

In the first part, you'll hear original recordings made by #alanlomax in the 1950s (you can truly feel the old tavern atmosphere).

In the second part, you'll find some tracks from @orchestrabailam (I've been playing double bass with them since 2006). They have created two incredible records that beautifully blend Trallallero singing with Mediterranean acoustic music! So, expect something quite different from my usual improvised and experimental work.

Trallallero is a type of polyphonic folk music from the Ligurian region of Genoa, in northern Italy. Traditionally performed by men, though there have been female performers in recent times, it features distinctive monosyllabic vocables (non-lexical vocalizations) like "tra-la-le-ro," which are prominent in the repertoire of the groups or "Squadre." These are typically sections of songs without words where the melody is sung using nonsense syllables.

In the 1950s, American musicologist Alan Lomax and Diego Carpitella recorded Trallallero. Lomax later praised it highly, calling it the most significant work in his long and illustrious career.

Trallallero groups consist of tenor, baritone, and bass parts, accompanied by a contralto and a singer who imitates a guitar (chitarra). Notably, the imitation of instrumental styles replaces traditional vocal polyphony, a defining characteristic of this genre. A typical lineup includes nine singers: one each of chitarra, tenor, contralto, baritone, and five basses, although some groups can be significantly larger.
