Apnea è un programma dedicato all'electro nelle sue forme più profonde e sommerse, dove l'acqua è l'elemento simbolico e fondante. Le selezioni si focalizzano sulle produzioni contemporanee traendo ispirazione dalle origini del genere, con un chiaro riferimento all'immaginario afro-futurista Drexciya.

Attraversa paesaggi ambient, electro, acid, bass, breakbeat e Detroit techno, trasportando l'ascoltatore con ritmi ipnotici e texture liquide, ritmi sincopati e dancefloor oriented. Apnea è un'immersione lenta e consapevole, uno spazio di sospensione tra pressione e silenzio, un flusso dove il battito elettronico respira sott'acqua e il tempo sembra dilatarsi in un non-luogo.

L'immagine di copertina di questa puntata di Apnea è una foto scattata da me che ritrae la piscina dell'acquapark nel giardino di una discoteca abbandonata, la Casina Rossa, in Toscana, a Lucca, costruita nel 1925 e in disuso dal 2012. Dopo più di 70 anni di storia nessuno è più riuscito a far risorgere come un tempo un locale che ha fatto la storia dell’intrattenimento locale, con le sue tre piste ridotte a polvere e macerie e un bellissimo giardino pieno di erbacce. L’acquapark è chiuso dal 2017 ma il suo degrado purtroppo è in stato avanzato.

Il mix contiene tutte tracce uscite a marzo 2026 e alcune in uscita ad aprile e maggio 2026.

The cover image for this Apnea episode is a pic I took time ago at the water park pool, hidden within the garden of the abandoned Casina Rossa nightclub in Lucca, Tuscany. Built in 1925, the venue has stood silent since 2012. For over seventy years, it was a place of music, voices, and movement—a cornerstone of local nightlife. Today, its three dance floors have collapsed into dust and rubble, and the garden has grown wild, slowly reclaiming what was once carefully shaped. The water park closed in 2017, but time seems to move differently here. Decay has already settled in—quiet, persistent—softening the edges of what remains, as if the past were dissolving into the landscape.

Apnea 001 - The Davy Jones Mix

Nella superstizione marinara di tradizione anglosassone si ritiene che l'essere immaginario chiamato Davy Jones sia un demone del mare soventemente associato alla morte per annegamento dei marittimi o ai relitti che giacciono negli abissi. Ci si riferisce al suo nome soprattutto attraverso l'espressione «Davy Jones' locker», ovvero "lo scrigno di Davy Jones", una metafora per indicare "il fondo del mare". 

Le origini del nome non sono note. Si dice che il primo riferimento letterario a questo personaggio si trovi nel romanzo The Four Years Voyages of Captain George Roberts di Daniel Defoe, che usa la frase "having the rest into Davy Jones' locker, i.e. the sea" ("riposarsi nello scrigno di Davy Jones, cioè nel mare").


In The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle, Tobias Smollett descrive l'uso del nome di Jones presso i marinai della sua epoca: «Questo stesso Davy Jones, secondo i marinai, è il demone che presiede su tutti gli spiriti maligni delle profondità, e appare in numerose forme, appollaiato sulle navi alla vigilia di uragani, naufragi e altri disastri a cui la vita del mare è esposta, avvertendo i devoti sventurati della morte e del disastro a cui si avvicinano.»
