Roberto Cagnoli è un musicista elettronico nell’area dell’arte contemporanea, in un duo avant-jazz con «now!» e in progetti da solo con «koBe», sviluppa una serie di progetti legati alla percezione, all’uso del rumore come materiale sonoro di elaborazione, e allo sguardo, attraverso installazioni polivalenti nelle quali il suono, i visuals e la luce compongono lo spazio fisico e mentale.

A coalescence of art and technology, the exhibition will feature a number of interdisciplinary artists with a range of backgrounds from countries such as Japan, America, Argentina, Korea, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia, and Sweden. Different from the typical “white cube” exhibit, several live performances and events will take place during the course of the show, in addition to a presentation of a variety of media art, from installations to video and sound art.

OUT.FEST - Barreiro International Exploratory Music Festival is an annual festival whose programming seeks to reflect the most significant developments in contemporary experimental music in its many forms - from improvised music to abstract electronics, from free-jazz to noise, from contemporary classical music and the new and unclassifiable musical languages born every day throughout the world. Alongside music, the festival features a broad and exciting universe of experiences and multi-disciplinary events bustling with novelty, challenging the classical rules and borders of the many forms of human and artistic expression.
From the need for an event highlighting the immense importance of all this activity on the edges and front-lines of our contemporary culture, OUT.FEST is born. From the outskirts of Lisbon, one of the country's great cultural centres, an almost perfect parallel between the periphery of the artistic "mainstream" is drawn, a fertile region and a true laboratory of the great art of our times.
Since 2004, OUT.FEST has presented over 300 concerts in over 50 different spaces all over Barreiro, hosting musicians from every continent and promoting new collaborations and commissioned works, presenting new sonic universes to over 2000 spectators every year.

FRIM (Associazione per la Musica Improvvisata Libera) è stata fondata nel 1976 per creare una piattaforma per la musica improvvisata libera in Svezia e per promuovere il dibattito in corso sulla musica improvvisata come forma d'arte. Oggi FRIM organizza concerti di musica improvvisata a Stoccolma.

FRIM (The Association for Free Improvised Music) was founded in 1976 to create a platform for free improvised music in Sweden and to promote the ongoing discussion about improvised music as an artform. These days FRIM arranges concerts of improvised music in Stockholm.

Grutronic - London Jazz Festival / Process & Lisa Ullen - Live in Krakiw

Grutronic are four musicians from diverse backgrounds working collaboratively in a unique electronic idiom. They combine electronic and acoustic sound to create unique textures and give them compositional direction. This process involves the creation of a complex, shifting soundscape. Grutronic employ a hands-on physicality to electronic instruments, understanding that input, control and exchange of human energy are what gives sound, form, soul and a human reason for being. Grutronic bring many different influences to the music, contemporary classical, free jazz, improvisation, funk and abstract electronica.

Well-known Swedish pianist, Lisa Ullen, came to the city in July and performed an astonishing concert with local musicians - the Process ensamble featuring Rafal Mazur on custom-made acoustic bass guitar, Rafal Drewniany on laptop and electronic devices and Michal Dymny on electric guitar.

Michael Hoenig: Live RIAS FM 77 is a rare recording of a live performance of the title track to the astounding 1978 Warner Brothers album 'Departure from the Northern Wasteland' by electronic pioneer Michael Hoenig. The sound quality isn't of digital brilliance, but it provides us with an insight into the compositional complexities of Hoenig's work, particularly his intricate minimalist (Reich-like) sequencer phases; and makes us wonder why he was never regarded in the same light as his luminaries and colleagues, Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, despite arguably displaying much more in terms of talent and imagination.

LA-based artists Byron Westbrook and Alex Pelly present a live audio/visual collaboration using electronics and modular video synth. The project expands from their online performance created earlier this year for the cathartic and damaged compositions on Distortion Hue, Westbrook's recent LP with Hands in the Dark. This live iteration features Pelly's colorful and dynamic audio-reactive images activated by Westbrook's sonics made with analog and digital synthesizer, computer, and processed cassette tape.

Il  MA/IN è un festival internazionale di culture digitali. Si tiene annualmente nel Sud Italia [Matera – Potenza – Lecce], presentando il lavoro di compositori e media artist rinomati ed emergenti. Dalla moderna musica sperimentale e sound art alle opere transmediali e performative. Ogni anno vengono presentate nuove opere in prima assoluta, in luoghi straordinari.

Il festival MA/IN è incentrato sull’arte digitale e sulle sperimentazioni musicali, favorendo la produzione di giovani artisti. Il Festival offre punti di vista critici e creativi sulla cultura contemporanea e sulle arti innovative, in un contesto interdisciplinare e transmediale.

Panacea e Perfect Peace

Panacea live at MUTEK Montreal, 7 June 2000.

Very much an atypical performance from Panacea. No drum and bass to be found here.

Panacea had released his masterful experimental glitch album Brasilia and performs songs exclusively from that album in this set.

Perfect Peace are Nils Quak, Marco Schroder and Wolfgang Sobtzick. Together they explore the boundaries between generative processes, field recordings as well as granular and modular synthesis. The results shift between soothing drones, beautiful noises and delicate textures. The release is a document of an improvisation at the STFU festival in Weimar in June 2011.
Under the moniker iTem, the laptop artist Marco Schroder explores the territory between elaborate field recordings and sound manipulations.
Under his own name and the pseudonym kompaqt.core Wolfgang Sobtzick utilizes  a software, he wrote especially for that particular occasion to dive deeply into algorithmic composition and sample manipulation.
The sounds of Nils Quak oscillate between intricate rhythms and ambient noise. Under his own name and the NQ moniker he already released several albums for renowned labels such as Progressive Form, Distance Recordings or Kitty Yo.

Antanas Jasenka - compositore, artista sonoro, performer.
Antanas Jasenka esplora molti ambiti diversi della musica, dalla musica acustica, teatrale e cinematografica, all'arte sperimentale, concettuale e alla musica elettronica. I primissimi pezzi elettronici composti tra il 1992 e il 1998 sono stati registrati con l'ausilio di attrezzature molto semplici. L'autore ha utilizzato tecniche di cut-off, mixaggio su nastro e collage per creare paesaggi sonori meravigliosi e immaginari. Partendo da "h3ORaj", l'autore ha raggiunto con successo il suo stile di creazione del suono, sebbene sia stato comunque realizzato con tecniche di "cut-off", "mix-up" e aggiungendo toni autogenerati digitalmente.

Antanas Jasenka explores many different areas of music from acoustic music, theatre and movie music, to advance experimental, conceptual art, electronic music. The very first electronic pieces composed between 1992-1998 recorded with the help of very simple equipment. Author used cut-off, tape mix and collage techniques to create wonderful and imaginary soundscapes. Started from "h3ORaj" author successfully reaches his own style of sound making, although it still was done with "cut-off", "mix-up" techniques and adding digitally self generated tones.

WONDERWERP Concert at Studio LOOS

Wonderwerp  series at Studio LOOS has been an important platform for promoting  independent, avant-garde and experimental music in the Hague in the period 2009 - 2016. 

Yolanda Uriz Elizalde (ES) founded the series in 2009 and was curator from the 14th of April 2009.05.14 - edition #1 at Studio LOOS - until the 26th of June 2014 - edition #53. 

Editions #54 (September 24, 2014)  until #63 (June 26, 2015) were curated by curators/producers Matteo Marangoni (IT), Anne Wellmer (DE) and Ingrid Lee (US). 

Editions #64 (September 24, 2015) until the last edition #73 (June 23rd, 2016) were curated by Kacper Ziemianin (POL) and Marcello Ghilardi(IT). 

Wonderwerp  is not dedicated to any particular style or genre of music and tries to  present a wide selection of performers at each concert. Music that can  be heard here includes, but is not limited to: live electronics, drone,  free improv, noise, sound art, electro-acoustic, etc. To keep it fresh  and interesting, at each edition we aim to present  international  artists as well as local ones. We stay in close contact with the Royal  Conservatory of Music in the Hague and the Royal School of Art. Students  and graduates from these institutions get opportunity to present their  works here. 

Starting  from September 2015, we also worked in close cooperation with the  educational activities of the Studio LOOS and each month one of the performers at the Wonderwerp series also delivered a workshop on a  selected topic. 

Wonderwerp took place at Studio LOOS every 4th Thursday of the month.

Hal McGee è un musicista americano che produce musica sperimentale fatta in casa dal 1981 e ha pubblicato centinaia di cassette e CD-R. I suoi numerosi progetti includono Dog As Master, Free Space, Viscera e Action Sound Painting Orchestra.

Durante gli anni '80, Hal e la sua ex compagna Debbie Jaffe, registrarono e pubblicarono musica noise innovativa e musica industriale su un'etichetta di cassette underground chiamata Cause and Effect. Hal e Debbie gestivano Causa ed effetto dal loro piccolo appartamento di una stanza situato a 821 N. Pennsylvania Street, nel centro di Indianapolis.  Sebbene l'etichetta funzionasse come un modesto progetto fai-da-te, Cause and Effect ha avuto un impatto globale. Nel 1987, Cause and Effect aveva acquisito abbastanza notorietà da essere messo in risalto accanto a R. Stevie Moore e Calvin Johnson della K Records in un articolo del New York Times intitolato "Record-it-Yourself Music on Cassette".

Nonostante questo riconoscimento, Hal e Debbie operavano in quasi totale isolamento e anonimato.

Oltre a pubblicare musica dai propri progetti, tra cui Viscera, Dog as Master e Master/Slave Relationship, Hal e Debbie hanno anche pubblicato nastri di artisti seminali di musica noise americana come Borbetomagus e Negativland.

Hanno anche pubblicato cassette di importanti gruppi europei, tra cui Nurse With Wound e l'ensemble franco-persiano Vox Populi.

Cause and Effect ha anche compilato importanti antologie, come "The Heterodox Conclusion", una raccolta di registrazioni di musica elettronica locale e internazionale create da donne, e "Best Text Of Japan", una raccolta di musica sperimentale giapponese, che presentava l'ormai iconico artista noise Merzbow.

Una sola traccia, tante tracce: questa puntata si ascolta “Chimera of New World”, un unico brano frutto di una composizione collettiva a distanza durante il lockdown e successivamente pubblicata dalla label Projekt Records di Portland, Oregon. #5 - Chicago - Experimental Sound Studio

L’estate sta finendo e un anno se ne va. Anche Onda Quadra torna dalle vacanze e vi porta a Chicago all’Experimental Sound Studio, luogo fisico ma anche virtuale che durante il lockdown (ed anche in questi giorni) ha organizzato e raccolto le performance di musicisti di tutto il mondo, eseguite appositamente, ovviamente da casa, programmandole ad orari precisi entro la giornata: si poteva e si può, dietro un piccolo compenso che va direttamente all’artista, vedere il live in diretta su Twitch, oppure in differita sul canale Youtube dove ci sono circa 500 set che aspettano di essere visti e ascoltati.
